Default 1988 Honda accord Transmission problem!!

I have a 1988 Honda Accord 5 speed, that I rescentley piced up, and it has an issue going into reverse... I too kit to a transmission shop and they dismantled the transmission and said there were a couple things worn but by all means not broken and should not hinder the operation of the transmission by any means. So we put it back together and I still cannot get the car to go into reverse. Some have said the shift linkage may be the cause of this, but all the other gears go in and out just fine. Let me know if anyone has a possible remidy for this problem. Thank you!

Do you have any ideas if this is a 5 speed manual trans or an automatic trans??

Does it grind going into reverse or just not go in at all?
I also have an 88' Accord and mine is a pain going into reverse somtimes too, try going into 5th then reverse.

The usual first sign of a clutch pressure plate going bad is having a hard time getting into reverse.

I was about to agree with checking the Pressure plate, and was also going to mention to try "Double Clutching". Basically push the clutch in, out then in again and try it.
