color cf hood?
hey guys i just want to know what you guys think. i got a black da. i dont really like the cf hood thing on a black car. i brought the cf hood to take some weight off and also got a good deal on it.
1.should i stay w/ the cf hood?
2.should i color the cf hood to macth the car?
3.if color do i have to sand it down a bit or what, befor i color the hood?

umm if you bought the cf hood just to lighten up the weight, that was pretty dumb.... are hoods dont way anything as is....main reason someone gets a carbon fiber hood is because it cf and it looks awesome. its your car, paint it if you want. obviously if you're going to paint it, paint it the same color of your car.
I think a CF hood over OEM saves 50 lbs. Obviously there are cheaper ways to save 50 lbs, so they're usually bought for the look. I'm guessing an OEM hood would be 65 lbs and a CF hood will be 18 lbs...

To answer your question: There's nothing wrong with painting your CF hood. Especially if you got a good deal on it.
You should sand it down before painting, but any good bodyshop should do that before they paint.
Personally, I'd say paint it. Cleanliness in 2006

I believe the stock hood weighs about 28lbs...well at least on the DC's. Not sure how much heavier is the DA hoods. Its all personal preference. I bought a cf hood because of the weight reduction and because it looked good...for a while at least....then it started fading. Do whatever floats your boat
