Default dizzy question

im going to be doing a mpfi swap soon. i was just wondering if i could just put the mpfi dizzy on my car now and run it with dpfi. they are the same dizzy except for the crank angle sensors coming out of it isnt it? will it work or not? does it need a gasket?

well i tried putting the dizzy on. tried to start the car wouldnt start, swapped wires and it started for a sec then died.. ecu threw code 8. will this work or not? kinda want to put it on so i dont have to later on.. plus i had to drill out the screw holding the rotor on when i changed my cap and rotor and i had to use a self tapping screw to keep the rotor on. its really loose but it works.. but id rather put the other dizzy on.. any help would be great?

Why change the dizzy if your old one is fine?

because ill be doing a mpfi swap soon and i thought i could get this out of the way now rather then when im doing the swap, so its less work. all the wires are the same for the other dizzy just the two extra ones. thought i could get away with it but i guess not.
