Default 110v air compressor larger than 30 gal??

I'm looking around for an air compressor for use in my apartment's garage. the largest I can find are 30 gallon uprights. everything else is 220 or higher. I'd just ghetto rig it and run a long *** 6-3 air conditioning wire to my drier outlet but...well...it would be about 50ft long AND the girlfriend wont approve either

anyone know of any compressors that are larger and still 110v??

I've actually thought about just buying a 220 unit and then just buying and retrofitting a damn 110v motor from grainger. I wonder how this would work?? dont see why it wouldnt???

oh also, what psi output rating should I look for if I want to do grinding/port work/and some paint/body work??

I'm waiting until I purchase the compressor before I start looking at airtools is why I ask.

anyone know if my idea of buying a 220v compressor and then just retrofitting a 110v motor onto it will work??

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by stackz &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">oh also, what psi output rating should I look for if I want to do grinding/port work/and some paint/body work?</TD></TR></TABLE>

who cares about PSI.. You're going to suck back the CFM like a $2 ***** with the bodywork/grinding tools you listed.

because obviously with a higher psi I can run a higher rated grinder, etc.

not to mention I think there's like a minimum psi output for most air tools...just cant find any specs when I look online at the tools is all but I know they post it on the box.

you have to have like 90psi which any compressor will do...its the CFM (amount of air flowing) that you cant handle with a 110v.

its not worth retrofitting...
