Paint ????
I'd assume just like any black car, every scratch and chip will show.
I've seen a lot of people doing flatblack on their bikes, doesnt look too shabby...and the no-gloss probably wouldnt make the blemishes come out as much.
I have a black bike, up-close you can see the scratches. Doesnt bother me, since this was my learner's bike.

If you care how the paint looks, you'll want to fix the rock chips first. Primer will usually be enough to fill in the small chips, but bondo + sanding might be needed for the big stuff.

DIY note: If you use bondo.. remember that it'll shrink over time so go back and touch up the filled holes after about 3-4 days. Or after 3-4 days, go back and use primer filler. Then sand accordingly.
If you don't have equipment to paint, you can technically paint with some rattle cans but I often use professional automotive paint with some Preval Sprayers http://www.prevalspraygun.com/ . They sell all that stuff at lot of Sherwin Williams and Keystone Automotive.

check up on alot of the DIY paint threads throughout HT. Same stuff cars - bikes. Just think about all the plastics as car bumpers, all the same techniques apply.
Rock strikes will show but its just part of life. Black is IMO the sexiest color when its clean, night or day but you pay the price when it gets dirty or dented.
