Default Lost Motion Assemblys - What/Why?

Basically what the topic says. I have a GSR, that I'm looking to put some cams in (not sure which yet), but I keep reading about people saying to put in the ITR LMA's... What do they do, where are they located in relation to the cams, does the GSR have them, and the ITR's are better, is there anything else associated with putting them in, and why do I want to spend the extra money. Thanks!

Reefer_Bob.

Edit: The search sucks.

the LMA keeps the vtec rocker arm in place so that vtec can engage.
The bigger the cam, the stiffer LMA you will need, and ITR LMA is the stiffest
available to my knowledge.

Weren't there some Ti pieces available for these things some time back? (and no I don't mean the retainers, one of the VTEC spools or something).

So then, if I were to do something as simple as put in ITR cams, are the ITR LMA's highly recommended? Something bigger Toda/Jun/whomever a must have? Is there a good rule of thumb? Thanks!

zygspeed: DPR used to sell Ti VTEC Pins that go in the rocker arms

With ITR cams you may not need them. for larger cams DEFINITELY

Ok, I'm confused here... First SgT says to upgrade to ITR's with bigger cams, but now multiple other people are saying they're the same... Hmmmm.....

That would be incredibly odd since all the ITR LMAs I have seen have been marked
whereas others were not. Also they were noticably stiffer. Very noticable difference
when idling on the BIG cams. I havent checked part numbers myself, but i seriously
doubt it.

Lost motion assembly part numbers:
GSR---14820-P30-010
Type-R---14820-P73-J01
Suggested retail:$36.50 each (both are the same price).
A type-r LMA is definitely stiffer.
