Default ITR cams in GSR B18C1 head

I am planning on putting ITR cams in a GSR B18C1 head. The head and bottom end are all stock.

My question is, if you put ITR cams in a GSR head will the stock valve springs, and retainers be strong enough for the ITR cams? Will the valves start to float at 8000-9000rpm? I know you can run the cams with the GSR valvetrain, but will the valves start to float at high rpm?

i recomend to upgrade the valve train at least
to prevent any valve float
any questions pm me

Yes you will probably float a valve @9000rpm but why rev that high... ITR cams will start to die out before that.

Keep it to stock redline and you'll probably be okay without the springs. But I recommend springs for insurance. Still have to install my RM gen 2 setup.

If i'm not mistaken, you only have one side with dual springs stock. ITR and CTR have dual springs for both. But i think there shouldn't any problem. Unless you are using TODA Type C or other such cam, then the valve springs is an issue. Just me 2cent

youll be fine if you keep stock rev. limit; i still think stock valvetrain is pretty weak though

Hey, thanks a lot guys for the info!

I've thought about it some more and think that I am probably going to put the ITR springs and retainers in for both the intake and exhaust. It may or might not matter since I am going to be turning the stock RPM, but since I'm in there I might as well do everything.

Hell, now I'm thinking about pulling the head to open up the intake and exhaust ports just a little to help flow a little more air.

Which leads me to my next question. If I pull the head what do you guys think about using a Mugen head gasket to raise the compression a little? Also it would be nice if anyone knew how long a Mugen gasket will last (Daily driving).

Once again thanks for the info guys!

i guess raising the compression will help, nothing you will notice though.

as far as enlarging the intake port i really advice you not to do anything of that matter to it.
Unless you really know what your doing and fully understand engine workings and have a nice knoledge about fluid dynamic, is best left alone.....Intake port is big enough anyways...
if you want to improve focus on quality and not quantity...improve on casting flaws, valve deshrouding, sharp edges, smoothing the racks; you get the point.

If you're going to ITR springs just buy the intake side. Remove stock GSR intake springs and install on exhaust side and install new ITR spring on intake side. If you check the catalog, ITR exhaust = GSR intake.
