Default Recommended Header for a B18B1 Non-Vtec motor...

I was wondering what brand and style header would be great for my Non-Vtec B18B1 motor. I plan to just run the basic I/H/E and maybe a high-flow cat, right now I have a full custom cat-back exhaust and a SRI. What header would you guys recommend getting for my set-up. Also what after the whole I/H/E/C set-up what other things could I do after those things, to add some power. I was thinking of getting a MSD ignition set-up, not really for power but for better spark and ignition. Can you guys help me out.

Glenn

Goto non-vtec.com , Id go with the 4-2-1 for a little more mid-range power . Go to that website though for an un-biased view on what you should do next .

How's the clearance on the comptech header? If my pockets aren't deep enough for a cmptech what would be a good alternative? Thanks for the info on Non-vtec.com. 4-2-1 header.

DC sports was nice on my old B16A , not sure how it is on the B18's but id expect probably similar quality . Or if your on a real tight budget id suggest the megan racing header , can be had for under $200 and for the price the quality and gains are not bad at all .

I knew I wasn't the only person who said this as soon as I read the title:

Except I wasn't saying the "I keed, I keed" part.

i have a 96 b18b1 and im running the DC header. works great no complaints. i have it cause its clearly marked that its C.A.R.B. legal in California. if you dont have emission issues then DC also makes a larger 2 1/2" header.

http://www.inlinefour.com

thats where i get all my stuff

I used to run dc sports jdm header with 2.5 collector. I just bought a itr knockoff for $200, stainless, and shipped. I would just recomend something with a larger collector than the normal 2in that 99% of dc sports have. Dc jdm is about $250?

Why because i came into this thread and gave my opinion on what kind of header he should purchase ? Especially when my opinion happens to be the general consensus of everyone else who has posted . Your a damn troll , if you had a DC header that you liked then why didnt you just say that to him and help him out to begin with .

My friend with a GSR is running a DC JDM 4-1 one-piece header, but that things dented, when I saw the clearance of it, it made me kinda shrug, eventhough my car is not slammed as his, he said anyone with a JDM DC header w/ the 2.5" collector will probably damage or scatch it up no matter what, but he says that its the best way to go, if I do run the JDM DC header would i have fitment issue with my stock cat? Also I don't want to change my piping to 2.5" its already 2.25" and it wouldn't be a good thing to have a header w/ 2.5" collector then a custom cat-back that's smaller which is 2.25".

Well if your running a stock cat just go with the 2" collector seeing as your cat's bottlenecking the exhaust anyways , but there shouldnt be any problem bolting to the stock cat . If your looking to save some money look into the megan racing header , like i said before for the price its great part .

4-2-1 header, usually 2in collector,2.25in cat inlet and outlet, 2.36-2.5in catback exhuast also, go with coldair intake instead of short ram, better midrange.

If you get a SS manifold be sure to whipe it down before you turn the car on , any finger prints will brun into the header and look like **** . Idk about a greddy header though i have no experience with one , but judging from the quality of their other parts id say its probably a good header .

I just bought a streetimprt itr copy and a skidplate. Together with gasket, heatshield, skidplate, header, and carsound cat I payed about $400. As for the dc sports, I have one on my 89 hatch(used to have b18b). I put it on and drove to the exhaust shop and dented the hell outta it pulling in. I run 2.5 header to a 2.25 exhaust.
