Default Suggested method to fix cloudy carbon?

Anyone that's had a hood or trunk in a warm climate for a few years has probably ran into the clear coat becoming cloudy. I personally used the Meguiars 3 step process, but it isn't perfect, nor do I think that multiple scrubbings by hand will do any better. I have a sun damaged carbon trunk that I was able to repair almost to acceptable standards, but it isn't perfect and I'd like to avoid painting it.

I've thought of taking the orbital to it, but I'm afraid of damaging it further. Is it possible to wet sand it lightly and re-clear coat it? Or would wet-sending it just do more damage?
