Default Here's my very fist attempt at TIG welding aluminum

Here's my very first attempt at TIG welding aluminum, this is after about 1 hour or less of messing around. I'm happy for the first day! Any tips or comments? This is w/ a Miller Syncrowave 180 at set at 110v.

I'd like to add that there was no penetration to the back of the pieces of metal, and this was 1/16th inch aluminum. I had the amps set to 110 and had the pedal almost all the way down. Am I doing something wrong? I expected to use only about 60 amps and thought the backside of the pieces would look similar to the front.

They're all cold, but you're off to a good start. I'm assuming you're running 110A. How thick of a material is it?

Ah, I didn't see your second post. 1/16 and 110 amps? Something is wrong. 110A should blow through 1/16 aluminum. You should only use about 55-65 amps for that thickness.

The penetration side won't look like the bead side. It'll look like a "bump" all the way across the seam. You won't see any beads in it if you do it correctly.
