Default How Easily to save money on gas?

Hey guys, first off I would like to introduce myself here. I'm 20 years old and i own a 88 crx hf. I had this little slugger for about 8 months now. It has a dohc zc swap in it. The car runs greats but is burning alot of gas.

I know usually most crx gets about 30-35 mpg and can average about 200-300 miles before a fill up.

The thing is, I work about 1 hour 20 mins away and I was wondering how could I save more gas? Here's my questions.

Question 1:
Will a different engine other than the jdm dohc zc save more gas?
Say like the D15b, B16a/b? B18c1/5?

Question 2:
Stick to the old jdm dohc zc and do regular maintance every 3000 miles...

Inputs welcome

if you are just lookin for gase mileage get the engine/tranny out of a crx hf, it will just be slow as hell

i dont get question 2 but its a good idea that will also keep the gase mileage up

most DOHC ZCs, even with Si transmission, will get around 35mpg, if they are running right

but with an hf/ tranny or at least an hf 5th gear in a zc tranny (cuz its got the smaller final drive if my memory is correct) will bring it up around 40mpg

if you wanna go through the work that would be the best thing

Do a tune up...

Do you have any leaks? What I've had to do to mine...

Valve Cover Gasket (if you have a leak)
Oil Pan Gasket (if you have a leak)
Spark Plug O-Ring Gasket (camew ith VCG above)
AC and Alternator Belts (were getting down there)
Cam Gasket (have it but not in yet)
Distributor O-Ring (needed it!)
New spark plugs (Bosch are crap use NGK V-Power instead)
Front Main/Crank Seal
Honda Plug Wires + Ground Strap (~$75 from Honda)
New brake fluid, flush radiator, oil filter, oil, fuel filter, check your hoses...

That would be wiser than doing any kind of swap for the labor and $ involved...

Did I miss anything guys? Editing a school paper for a friend at the same time.
