i can't count how many times ive been accused of nitrous by cops......i got pulled over for going over a speed bump too slow one time. that was awesome.

i had my car on the dyno at like midnight or so one night and the cops showed up accusing me of setting off the alarm and breaking in. they refused to beleive me that it was my shop and honestly thought i broke in to use the dyno...it was rather funny...i had to show them bills and buisness liscenses and what not along with my drivers liscense to prove it.....i got a good laugh out of it though. dumbasses

i really just dont understand why they have to go to such lengths to be such pains in the asses. we dont have emissions up here and we dont get pulled over for crap like that. my suggestion to everyone is get the hell out of california.

 

I wonder if they are doing the same things with mustangs, corvettes, and all those mullet headed cars out there that have far more illegal shiit on their cars besides a carb legal header, exhaust and oh yeah the fuel pressure regulator . Just another way for the haters and mullet heads to make money and frown down on a different culture and generation of modified car enthusiast's

yes this might be one of the downfalls of living in cali but the upsides make it all worth it. i can drive 1.5 hours east and be snowboarding in the winter or go 1.5 hours west and be surfing in the summer. gotta love cali. besides i drive a damn suv as a daily driver so it doesnt even effect me..

Not True. I lived in nor cal for 18yrs. and it's definately better over here on the east coast.

I like the east coast ALOT more. I live in DE right now (east coasters know how lame this state is) but, I'm 20min. from a good beach, 60min. from a good snowboarding spot, I have about 10 tracks in a 150mi. radius of me, NYC, DC, Philly and Baltimore always have some **** popping and here in DE there is no "MOds laws" or sales tax . East Coast &gt; west coast (and I'm from CA remember that)

OH HELL NO, I can't believe somebody posted this statement. But then again you were from nor-cal. The reason that cops take it to that extreme is because of all of the deaths related to street racing. After "Fast And The Furious" came out, the **** hit the fan. Regardless, I love living on the west. Even if I have to put up with cops being dicks. Remember, this is the birth place of the Sport Compact Scene.

Have you ever lived on the east coast? Regardless where the "scene" started, CA sucks now. Only a select few have fast street cars (FWD's that is)in CA. Over here 11 sec. street FWD's are at every other corner it sems like. Either way, I'm speaking from experience not heresay

Sadly I've been a victum of this before. Got pulled for a modified exhaust. The officers were looking for other things to cite me for but everything on my car at the time was legit (DC header, AEM intake, nitrous line was disconnected but they didn't see that I had nitrous). Went online and looked up what the violation was on DMV's website and found out it was just a sound ordinance. Took my car to the BAR ref and passed, mailed the BAR ref certificate and got refunded for the citation. What a waste of a day.

If I get rolled over for something like this now, I am pretty much screwed. I would rather take a speeding ticket then waste my time putting my car back to stock and wasting a day at the BAR ref.

 

dam... sucks living in cali if you are a car freak. seems like the POPO have every single right to pull you over if you have a slightly modified car.

sounds more like harasment and discrimination. Also even if every single part on the car is 50 state CARB legal, that doesnt justify the fact that POPO can pull you over just because you car sings to a different note than a car coming from the dealer....

what is not fair is that, Trucks, Choppers, motorcycles, and cars from the 1950-1970's are way louder than the slightly modified 4 banger that we drive.

what is also not fair is, at every single constuction site, you can gurantee a dump truck that emits noise decibles that are 10x louder than your regular 50 state legal exhaust.

a 18 wheeler buzzing through a highway at 60mph i still generating decibles that are louder than our cars.

Dump trucks pumping out thick black smoke from the exhaust pipes. and citizens like us are forced to inhale those toxic fumes.

but if a slightly modified sports car is driving down teh same road with a dump truck that is polluting the enviroment and exceeding the noise decibles, POPO would rather pull over a slightly modified car than a dump truck that did not comply with all the ordinances?

but then again, if you were driving the new vette z06 that can bust out sub 12 sec 1/4 times and easily crack 190 mph with a gentle smush of the gas pedal, shouldnt that car be just as illegal as a slightly modified honda? im sure the z06 has "street raced" a handful of times before....

dam....where the hell is the justice in this country??!!

hate to say it but....
we have enough idiots that ruin it for the rest of the car enthusiasts in cali...only reason that the police target imports is for the few who drive like maniacs, have extra loud exhausts and race stickers and such all over their cars...then act like total jackasses when they do get pulled over.
in san diego we have unfortunately some of the strictest laws. some of the reasons we can get pulled over are a loud exhaust/modified muffler/stickers/monster tach/rims or a whale wing....basically the obnoxious few out there.
we deal. my cars(and my friends) pretty much looks oem at this point....the sleepers we call them.
