i purchased a GSR head that came with the original cam caps and i temporarily removed the cam caps and forgot to number and mark which one is which. i did read about mismatching cam caps from a different head but the cam caps are from the original head, does it matter if i mix some of them other than the obvious (the ones at the 4 corners)??

I was just joking, lol.... notice the guy sticking his tongue out? But anyways, if you look at the little "I" and/or "E" you should be able to figure out what side they go one I for intake, E for exhaust... it probably wont hurt anything if you do end up having them mixed up, so long as there are n o major wear marks in either the cams, or the caps.
