I bought this prelude used and when i got it it had this. can you tell me why someone would do this? does it hurt my car in anyway? why they are different? what i can do to fix it?

 

yeah, the moron who owned the car before you probably had it lowered so much that the top of that control arm was banging against the top of the wheel well.

either that, or he couldn't figure out how to get that top ball-joint out and cut a hole.

either way, your car isn't exactly fucked, but it's not a good thing either.

 

they probably cut it for clearance like sober said, the upper BJ was probably banging there....

wow, that is some ghetto *** mechanic work right there. I bet sober is right, it looks like an aftermarket suspension has been installed and it was so low the uca's were banging into the sheet metal.

you didnt notice that when you were looking at the car before you bought it?

1. yeah, you can fix it by welding in a plate where the hole is

2. does it hurt? it's probably weakened the metal...by how much, I don't know. I'm a Chem-Engineering major, not a Mech-Engineering...

3. they're different because it was done by hand by a hack ******* mechanic. symmetry is hard to attain when you're just chopping away...

 

i didnt know much about the car when i bought it. . . i was in the military had the money and liked it, so like a dumbass i just bought it. ive had it for almost 2 years now. . . mechanically it is fine. . . it does have aftermarket. . .skunk2 coilovers and tokico blues. WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT? by different i mean they top of the control arm (i think thats what that is) one looks ajustable and the other one isnt.

 

also note that one is adjustable and the other is not, talk about hacked, your metal integrity is probably fine,,

those are two different ball-joints. I don't know which is OEM and which one is the replacement.

haha yeah hes got an adjustable one on the driver side and a stock one on the passenger side....geez

 

maybe the guy raced NASCAR with it, all those right turns were wearing out his drivers side tire

 

looks like maybe it was on airbags. people usually cut away that portion to make room for the airbag to slam the car.

i thought nascar's track was shaped so that they always turn LEFT , i just had to do that since everybody pretty much answered the dude's question

I agree with sober. But presonally you should go back aand smack the person you bought it from and tell them how stupid they are.
