Default identifying a jdm b20b

I am about to buy a teg with a jdm b20b. I asked the kid for the vin #'s, he said it was a jdm b20. It won't show up on the computer. Something seems a little fishey, but he gaurentees me that it is not stolen. Any way to tell if it is a jdm b20b. Thanks, your help is appreciated.

They aren't even a problem in CA. Most of these kids just get their asses handed to them by Johnny Law because the set up they have isn't BAR'd.

I have had a couple of BAR'd JDM GS-R set ups.

JDM motors don't have vin's. **** even USDM OBD1 GS-R motors don't have vins.

they have a sticker on the tranny that falls off over time....my brother has a 95 GSR in his coupe and got pulled over..motor was leget but was missing a tranny vin tag. got his car towed and impounded for a month, we fought it in court and luckily got it back. this also happened to another guy on the forums he wasn't so lucky, they made him take off his tranny and tow his car home. Also made him pay for impound fee labor for taking off HIS tranny and to tow it home. if i remember right it all add up to like 1600 down the drain!

That barcode on the tranny is not a VIN.

I'm sorry but the cops are just dicking you around. I guess they had to meet their quota. LOL... the barcode on the tranny is a part number. That, or we all have matching vins. S80 y0!

Even on the Helms manual, it says it.

Transmission number.

If you have a obd1 transmission with a VIN number on it, sell it on EBAY because it is rare and unheard of.
