need new brakes
i have a 1997 lx with 79,xxx miles on it. i can feel the brake going more everyday. ill need new one really soon, should i go for a cheap aftermarket brake set, go to a honda dealer or go to he junkyard and find some? any good makers i should look for?
Don't even think about junkyard brake pads. Your best bet for a daily driver and not a racecar is good ol honda pads (from the dealer). They are quiet and pretty much dust free. If you go aftermarket you can save a few bucks if you don't mind squealing and dirty wheels, not to mention faster brake pedal fade under heavy braking.
Also you may want to consider having your brake fluid flushed (or do it yourself) Honda reccomends doing that every 3 years regardless of mileage.

It pretty much depends on how hard you drive your car and what you'll tollerate for brake performance.
Depending on what's available in your local area, and whats required to fix them will determine the route you take.
If you're just looking to slap something on there to get a few more years out of it, I'd suggest either NAPA or PartsAmerican as a sourse for a low-line set of brakes. If you need to replace the rotors, they have a parts line which will satisfy your needs.
If you have a credit card and don't fear eCommerse, you're next step up would be any of the premium ceramic brake sets available, and if you needed rotors; Brembo Blanks (standard).
Honda OEM is also an avenue you can take. It will keep MooGoCow3 busy for a few hours (and away from this forum
), just stay out of the show room.
