Default OBD1 h22 into a OBD2 Accord

So I'm about to buy an OBD1 H22 from a good friend and he said if there are any questions, ask h-t because he has a busy schedule. So, i want to know if there is going to be any major problems... he was talking to me about the knock-sensors and said I'd have to get it re-wired... the engine is obd1, but the tranny is hydrolic? is that okay... it should work right? Well, another thing is that I'd have to get another ecu, because his Accord was a 94 auto., but he bought the h22 engine only w/o the tranny, because he was thinking about doing a auto-manual swap. He said to get the PT-28??? or was it P28 ecu and have it chipped? so yeah.... if you guys could help me out, that'd be cool. thanks!

cliff notes:
- want to buy h22, but need questions answered...

questions:
1) where can I get info on knock-sensors of obd1 vs. obd2?
2) will obd1 engine work with hydro-tranny?
3) will pt-28 or was is p-28 ecu from civics work with h22? and where can i get it chipped?
4) since my car is obd2, how will I re-wire my wires? plus will it still run without some wires?

thanks for all the help H-T and I know that there's alot of people out there who's done this, I just want to know the troubles and other stuff before doing the actual swap!

Unfortunately for you and I, there doesn't seem to be too many people who have info on this swap. I just bought an obd1 h22 for my 6th gen Accord and asked about it in the hybrid section....in 4 days the thread got 8 views Anyways, we'll be tackling the project in a few weeks so I'll have more info for ya then. Good luck!

The Knock Sensor should be one wire obd1/2 but i could be wrong and you gotta wire it directly to the ECU. Yes OBD1 trannies were also hydraulic and it will work with your swap. It is a p28 ECU and you can get it chipped at a local performance shop, people on HT, if you have connections, or i think there is a writeup on pgmfi.org on how to do it. You can convert the obd1 to obd2 but you will need to change out a couple things.

there is no knock sensor on OBD1

it *should* if you use an auto ecu

I dunno. I would recommend using a prelude ECU if you're looking to just plug in & run without too much hassle.

that's the hard part. you could buy an OBD2-->OBD1 conversion harness and then hack up your OBD2 wiring harness to connect to the OBD1 engine, or run the OBD1 wiring harness from the new engine and somehow convert the internal plug to match the OBD1 ecu.
