Default wacky speedometer

my speedometer has been acting screwy lately, it rarely reads any speed at all. its usually just hanging down at 0. i'm fairly sure that it's a speed sensor, but i'm kind of at a loss for a replacement. the car is a 92 cx with a jdm b16a2 with a p30. i'm under the impression that an integra speed sensor will work, i just want to run it by you guys to double check.

moral support is important in automotive repair

for a while mine would drop to zero then bounce around. The speed sensor was coming loose so I tightened the bolts down and it's fine now. I have a B16 in my 92 Si...I used the stock speed sensor

This happened on my car not too long ago, then shortly after my car died on the freeway. Come to find out it was my secondary O2 sensor shorting out the fuse that has the alternator, speed sensor, ELD and some other ****. So i just disconnected the O2 sensor and was good to go. Hopefully this isn't the case with your car, but incase it does happen then you know what to do.

Sounds like my problem.

I had my VSS replaced a long time ago and it didn't do ****.

Soon I'm going to be finding/making my own connectors from the VSS to the wires that go to the cluster/ECU. Apparently it's in a bad place that gets a lot of **** on it, causing it to corrode.

If that doesn't fix it I'm going to run a new wire from the VSS connector to my guage cluster (I'll do this once I find out how long the stock VSS wire is.)

If neither of those fixes it I'm going to try to find another cluster to at least check to make sure mine works.

Finally, if those 3 things don't correct the problem I'll replace my VSS.

If I can find a camera I'll do a write-up on all of that.

bad speed sensor, bad ground by thermostat housing, corrosion on the plug
