rx8 is it a threat to a crx
the reason i ask this is because one of my ignorant friends got his first import today which is a rx8. so he thinks hes the **** now. so of course he clowned me saying theres no way i can beat him in my rex and if i do its only with a swap. i mean for a stock rx8 they look aggresive i aint scared but do i have a chance going at him stock meaning i have a stock zc sohc with just exhaust i plan on doing more but i want to build a dominating d series engine i dont no were to start

i aint going to race him i wasnt saying that what im saying is this punk used to drive a sebring and then he got in a accident so he got the rx8 doesnt no **** about it lies up the *** about his knowledge of imports and has the nerve to talk **** about my rex just cuz hes got a stock fast car now never raced in his life. i mean i might sound like a hater but **** now a days you dont even have to work on your car that much to have high horsepower with these dealer bought cars like the evos and wrx, rx8 etc i mean there nice cars and i would buy one if i had the money but i would like to see there faces when they get raped by a crx
its not so much driving skill as it is the huge difference in power between an rx8 and a "stock crx with an exaust", there's just almost no chance unless he really messed up, you'd need a tuned b16 minimum to have a chance
rx8's is garbage.... i have a built gsr in a crx and i have stretched all of my friends sti's and my friend jake's rx8. i have races him about 5 times on the freeway and he has only won once due to my tire exploding. other than that easy money

wrong, I destroyed one with a B16 swap in an HF before going turbo (it was untuned, why would u need tuning on NA anyways?) Now it would really be a joke if I raced one. I would say about 10 cars minimum now.

This thread is whack, LOL
Will a stock RX8 beat a stock CRX CRX (sorry but exhaust IMO is still stock) YES
A swapped CRX has a good chance of kicking the RX8s ***, I've seen one get beat repetetively one night at the track by a B16 CRX (stcok internals, just IHE) and whooped by a Accord with a homemade turbo.

Driver > car
Driver > car
As high performance cars go, the RX8 is a real slug. But it is still ALOT faster than a bone-stock CRX. My advice? Go get a GSR swap, and then show your buddy what a 15+ year old car can do for a fraction of what he paid.
Turbo your stock D-Series, It can be done a hell of alot cheaper than swapping engines and you'll get much more WHP for your dollar. If you're smart and read up on what you're doing - you'll come out of it with 180whp+ boosting 8-10lbs and have only spent $1200 or less. I'm trying to build mine under $1000, with the d16z6 I just bought in that equation.
Someone will inevitably post "until you blow the engine" - Damn straight, but it aint a $1000+ B-Series, it's a $150 D-Series - swap in another one and prepare to blow the crap outa it too in a few months.

i drove a rx8 at the auto auction i worked for a month ago i was more than disapointed with the power felt like a complete slug, i also think my 1.5 crx would give it a run (not beat it but it would still walk away with its pride for being a basicaly stock 1.5l)
maybe there was somethign wrong with the one i drove
besides it being automatic

a stock rx-8 runs a mid to high 14 1/4 stock. If your friend is a idiot and cant drive lets just say 15 sec then. I got my stock crx si into the mid to high 15s with just intake/header/exhaust....so its really not that far out of the realm of beating on almost stock. A bolt on turbo on the D-series would own that car unless your a horrible driver too.
Anyways this type of thing is never ending. Friend saying this car is better then the next. All of it comes down to the driver when cars are remotely close in specs and even then a bad driver in a fast car can even be the same as a great driver in a much slower car. Driver owns more then ppl think
