If it were the speed sensor it should be kicking the "S" light or a check engine light. But be sure before you buy new of either because the speedo head itself new is pricey.

Yeah, The [S] light is flashing on my dash, and when i exceed speeds of 50+ MPH the Check Engine light comes on...

So how much would a speed sensor run me?

They usaully run between $90-$160

They have some cheap ones on ebay for like $30 bucks but it's up to you if you want to risk it working.
I have an ebay speed sensor on my 90 accord and it's been working fine for about nine months now.

Well we'll try this again:
You're Ebay option: $49.00

Or just the sensor portion: $39.00

Either way.

read this......and i would replace just the electical part , that is what causes the problem..

i would take your current one out and inspect it make sure the gear is ok.

then try cleaning the connectors with a cotton swap and some alcohol. (worked on my civic)

if that doesnt work, try replacing the sensor portion.
