DX misses, help me track down the problem..
My 88 DX isn't running well...
Let me start by mentioning that I have an auto tranny that drags or something and drops idle RPM by several hundred when it's in gear. So the engine is under load even when I'm stopped at a light.. It sucks but I don't have the funds for an auto-to-manual yet.
Anyway, it only happens when the engine is cold. It does fine until the idle goes below about 1200, then the engine sort of "bogs" and the revs drop and it runs like ****. If I rev it it goes away.
Additionally, it occasionally misses from about 1600-2200 when in motion. Sometimes I'll try to accelerate and it will stick at 1800 until I give it even more throttle, then it revs past 2200..
Once the car's been running about 10 minutes it does fine. I can sit stopped in D and it runs great at about 7-800 RPM. So it's only when it's cold. The problem is way more evident in cold weather, too.
What could it be? What is it definately not? I don't want to throw a bunch of money at this engine, but it's still my daily and I won't be able to swap until this summer.
