i spent around $1200 or just a little bit more than that. I been running lsv for 4months now and its great. Just have a pro or someone that knows their ****. As for me i paid a friend $380 for laber and if anything breaks down he will fix it.
my set is stock 00 b16 head with stock cams, etc. and stock b18b block.
v2 intake and r-1 racing headers with apexi n1 exhaust i hit 14.7 with street tires
i knoe I could do better but that was my first time at the track. goal for next time is 13's

IF MONEY IS AN ISSUE DON'T DO IT BECAUSE LS/VTEC IS AN AWESOME BUILD IF YOU DO IT RIGHT, AND ITS EXPENSIVE TO DO IT RIGHT. I'LL JUST SAY I HAVE 8K IN MINE.

you gotta use the vtec manifold

my lsvtec runs fine and spins very smooth, arp rod bolts, vtec pistons and brand new oem rings are the key

You should upgrade to gsr oil and water pump..And when you put on the vtec head it already has the "vtec" manifold..Do some research..

On the one I built I spent about $1000 including block and head..
B18a shortblock - $50
Acl bearings kit - $80
Arp rodbolts - $50
complete B16a head off ebay - $100
Typer cams and valvetrain - $200
gsr oil pump - $50
gsr water pump - $40
gsr timing belt - $20
new piston rings - $45
Pr3 pistons - $50
oil lines - $25
gsr arp headstuds $100
Then the rest was spent at the machine shop getting the block and head machined to fit eachother,,which you dont even have to do anymore with kits like GE lsvtec kits..

And it ran/runs good..The guy I sold the car to says its reliable like a stock motor..Its all in how you put it together, maintain it,how you drive, and the ecu tuning..

Nobody is elaborating on the "Doing it right" part. What else is involved if you spend 6-8 grand?

Most of that money is spent at the machine shop..Im assuming iron sleeves, forged internals, decked block, milled head, built head with porting, assembly, good header, etc. All that **** adds up if you do it that way..You dont neccesarly have to do it like that though,,it all depends on your goals and your wallet..
