Default I NEED ADVICE

i just recently borrow my friend's old cheap short shifter and shifting is now very heavy. I dont want to install the stock because the gears are too far apart. can someone help me? is there a way to tune something so it becomes lighter?

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but a short shifter has no affect on the gearing of the transmission. Also, was the short shifter the correct part for your car?

sounds like the bolts that attach the shift linkage to the shifter are too tight.

go underneath, and loosen em up a little, should be smooth after that.

torque spec on the shift linkage\shifter is 16lb-ft. That was my problem when I first put my skunk2 on...I crawled back under and untightened it a lil and it is beautiful.
