the bike is only as fast as you want it to go. if you ride safely, you have nothing to worry about.

Please don't tell that to him. You don't know if he has even been on a pedal bike before.

I repeat, a bike is only as fast as you want it to go. You guys are making it out like bikes have more power than people can handle (which i hate hearing). in reality, if you dont romp on the throttle every time you get on the bike- it will respond accordingly and vice versa. If a beginner wants to learn how to ride a bike, other than the weight difference (which is minimal) there is no difference between learning on a 1000cc bike vs a 600cc bike as long as he rides responsibly. Just because something has more power doesnt necessarily make it more dangerous.. its the way people USE that power that makes it dangerous or not.

This was not the purpose of the thread.. lets try and keep it on topic.

although i wouldn't recomend a liter bike for a beginner ... twelvesorbetter is right. The person riding the bike is controlling how fast it goes .. both a 600cc and a 1000cc are crazy fast .. and extremely dangerous, the real difference is how responsible the rider is.

Again, good luck on the sale. Beautiful bike

no im not. see the above comments. Just because something has more power does not make it more dangerous. its the way a person uses that power that makes it dangerous or not. If you take corners easy and dont accelerate heavily and you shift/accelerate conservatively and dont do anything stupid, theres no real difference between learning on a smaller displacement bike vs. a larger displacement bike. I am by no means an expert on this subject but this is my honest opinion. I only rode about 5K on a 600 before moving up to a 1000 and unless i wound it up, i didnt really feel the huge difference in the overall 'feel' from one bike to the other.

the purpose of this thread is not to have a debate on the issue.. the purpose was for me to sell my bike....

thanks for the free bumps.

nothing swung and hit it. the lock was a clamp-like device.. like the 'boot' the city puts on your car.. and the bike was rolled backwards with that boot locked onto the brake rotor.. so consequently it hit the side of the front fender and put a small crack in it. you have to crouch down and look to see it. it cant be seen from a few feet away.

Say your a nooby on this nice bike of yours. You come into a corner in 3rd gear a tad too hot(which happens to EVERYONE, noob or not). Him being a noob, he of course completely lets off of the throttle for some engine braking. Hes now heavy into a lean but it appears hell make it just fine. So he pulls the throttle back to continue accelating through the turn. You telling me the result on the 1000 will be as forgiving as a 600? No way. On the 1000 theres a good chance hell start fish tailing, on most 600's hed get away with it. I know you your trying to sell your bike and youll sell it to anyone with cash, but dont mislead people.

It means its obvious that you dont/cant ride hard because the outsides of your tires are not worn at all. Someone who rides hard are constantly on the outsides of their tires and they show wear.

im not misleading anyone. ive had both a 600 and a 1000.. and i ride very conservatively.. and for someone like me, it makes/ has made little difference.
