i was gonna buy one dx but i passed once i heard no AC, thats just like the weirdest thing, nowadays you cant drive with out AC....albiet i rarely used my ac in my gti but on a few occasions it is necessary. Plus i couldnt justify 14k for a non AC car....im sure hyundai could offer me cheaper car with the essentials...although i hate hyundai. I'm looking at an LX right now coupe 06 close to that range, through a costco program, no hassle pricing like scions

that's how i got my FG1, 17,500.. walked in and paid just under 20k after taxes and all that bullshit

before that though, i was at the other dealer.. they told me they had just sold a DX added AC and a radio for 19k (and thats BEFORE taxes and whatver ****)

well this guy is from NJ, maybe he don't even need AC lol

I think (I hope!) by "out the door" he meant all taxes, title, licensing, and whatever other fees the feds or state govts. deem necessary for us to pay when buying a car.

I paid the same $19k "out the door"... All said and done.
But I paid $16,500 (with destination) for the car (an LX Coupe) itself.

Those taxes and fees get you.

Does anyone know why Honda decided not to give the 06 DX no A/C? Just curious cause I thought all of the newer models had A/C. Great buy nonetheless

Easy answer. So that they can advertise a much lower base price.

Agreed.

The A/C system is worth almost $900 as a stand alone option just for the physical kit! Add probably another $600 for installation and you can quickly see that the value one thought when buying a DX quickly dissipates. IMHO, an LX is the best bet for the budget-minded buyer as it has everything factored in already...

DX's were special when they truly were stripper models, their price and weight reflected that and that is why I based my old autocross car off a 1993 DX Coupe. The new 2006 DX Coupe doesn't offer much advantage over the LX, so I chose the LX as the basis for my daily driver/autocrosser. Kroze has said that he can make due without the A/C, I tried that for quite a while on my old car... Never again.

I know no A/C sucks, but for $14K, not bad. How much power does a DX put down these days?

I know a lot of u guys can't live without a/c but not me. i specifically want the car without a/c and radio. as a matter of fact, i was about to rip my whole a/c system out of my supra all in the name of saving weight and the fact that i've ever use it.

the no factory radio option makes the deal even sweeter for me because i'm going to put in an aftermarket head unit that's obviously a thousand times better anyway.

that right there is at least over $1200 that honda will add to the sticker price, and it's something that i don't want to begin with. the next model up is the LX which cost over $2k more. you pretty much get a/c, radio, bigger wheels, and power locks.

meh, more features i could go without. so i used the $2k i saved for:
GPS Navigation - $363
All season floor mats - $109
Pioneer Premier Head Unit - $free
Sony 4 channel Amp (50x4 rms) - $85
All wiring & labor - $free
Trunk Tray - $free
Mud guards - $free

I just ordered the painted mirror & door handles from the factory for $102.

all model civic except SI get the same engine. R18, putting down 140hp and 128 lbs tq.

SI get the acura rsx-s k20 engine 197hp 139lbs tq. it ran dead flat even with the factory supercharged scion tC @ 15.1 sec 1/4 mile. pretty impressive for a NA car. consider the supercharged scion tC got 200hp & 183lbs tq
