Black smoke = fuel. Black crap in exhaust is from carbon.

As to where the oil is going, I would run a leakdown. I'm not sure what you'll find since your compression is good. But I don't know of any car with 'normal' oil drips.

Yes man, the black smoke is too much gas. May be you should check the O2 sensor, when they are bad they make the ECU that the car too lean so the ECU send more fuel to the engine. Remember that the FUEL is also to cold the engine emission, when the emission is too hot the O2 sent the info to the ECU to put more fuel, and if the O2 is too cold it means that is too rich so the ECU sent the order to put less fuel.
Now about the oil I think that propably you have a leak or with the smoke also. I suggest to check the VALVE GUIDES...

That picture looks like your PCV not being connected. Is that the black box that is attached to the block?

the hose is connected to a connector that has another hose connected to it, the other hose goes underneath the black canister, but this hose goes into firewall and somewhere

what?

There should be a hose coming off the block to the PCV, then one to the intake manifold. Then the valve cover should be vented, either with a breather or connected to the intake. Hope that helps as far as the emission stuff goes.

You can have good compression (Compression rings) while still burning oil (Oil Rings).

But the little drip may be your problem. Remember that when oil gets warm, it gets thinner, so a little drip when the engine is cold makes for a bigger drip when it is warm. Stop all leaks, then see if you are still loosing oil. Also, pay attention (With a friend) if you are puffing any blue smoke at startup and under hard acceleration. If at start up, you have a leaky valve seal, at hard acceleration, you have a warn guide. If all the time, you have a bad ring. That's the general rule of thumb to give you a starting point when trying to determine the cause of oil burning.

Your hose has something to do with the fuel system.

You guys need to fix your cars. First of all the black smoke and the oil burning are 2 different problems. Do you have a check engine light on? Your motor isnt running right and figure that out first.
