Default Distributor match

I think my distributor is going to be screwed soon. I am getting jerking and hesitation on light throttle and upon throttle release. This is more obvious when I am going up a slope on the freeway. Initially I replaced my plugs as they looked kinda black. The car was well for a week until today after I took a sharp bend at a slightly higher speed. I am suspecting it is my LSD acting up. Can a faulty LSD cause this problem? I was thinking of replacing my distributor cap and rotor. Is this a good idea? Am I running too rich causing my plugs to foul sooner than its life span? Are the distributor caps for B16A motors the same as that of the B18C ones? Hope someone can help me out. I'm going crazy driving a jerking car.

I believe that is why I posted here... to get some answers. Why let the mechanic rip you off when you might get answers here?

The B16a cap is not the same as the B18C.

It could be a number of things. What other mods have you done to the car? If you hadn't in a while I'd change the dist cap and rotor. Have you also tried throttle body cleaner, Sea Foam, Fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron cleaner in a bottle, etc. to clean the fuel system?

Maybe more info will enable others to help you more.

Good luck!

What about the GSR? Do they share the same distributor cap and rotor?

I've had a dirty fuel filter cause this problem. I've also had a bad dizzy cause the same thing, but on a different car. Where are you located. I have an ITR dizzy lying around. If your local you can swap it out real quick and take it for a drive and see what happens. I recommend changing the fuel filter first though. It's a good idea to change it occasionally anyway and it shouldn't cost more than $30.

I believe the GSR and ITR caps are the same. But you may want to do a search and double check for sure. When I did my ITR engine swap I kept my GSR dizzy. Then later I swapped in a B16a dizzy and got too lazy to swap the GSR one back.

I searched and it seems no one is mentioning this... I think an alternative is bring the cap to the dealership and let them do the matching.
