Default Civic proplem!

I have a 98 civic Dx engine that was back firing like crazy. I took it to a mechanic and they told me that it was the TPS sensor. So I bought a TB and put it on the civic and now it won't even start. When you turn the key I can hear the fuel pump start running but it doesn't turn over. Please help!!
