Default catalytic/header

as i was serching about this i found that to do header's on my d16y7 i need to get a catalytic off of an ex, the question is which does it make a difference which one i use, becuase i have a 99 civic dx, and i found that there is the 96-96 cat and the 99-00 cat? im sure the 99-00 might be my best option but would it make a difference?

I think the d16y7 header has the catalytic converter on the manifold. So I’m guessing when you switch to an aftermarket header; that length (cat. converter) is missing from the exhaust causing it to be short. Note: aftermarket headers do not have the cat on the manifold. Therefore, that is why it is too short and you will need a cat.

And try to get a 4-2-1 or a 4-1 (4 straight to the collector, not downpipe)

Other than that, all d-series 88-00 should be compatible.

correct if i am wrong.

I think what you're asking is which year(s) EX you can get a cat from, 96-98 or 99-00. You can get one from either year. EX or SI would work fine.

And you are correct 'the sol that could'
