Default RSX-S 02-04 vs 05 Shocks

Have anyone put 02-04 shocks onto a 05 rsx or vice versa? I'm having a hard time finding out if they are the same. They have different parts numbers according to Acura, but that doesn't really mean they're physically different.

It usually does, but heres hoping. I believe (like most cars) the back struts are the same as 2002-2004's, but the front are different. Each coil is wound an opposing way on the '05+ cars, making you'd have to swap to 2002-2004 springs as well as using those struts.

obviously they are not the same part, as you cannot put 05-06 springs into an 02-04 shock body and vice versa.

however, if you were to change out the entire shock including the spring (as in, take one out of a 05 and put it into an 02) that would work fine.

So if I had the 2004 shock AND spring I could put it on a 2005?

Edit - Re-read and it was more obvious. Thanks!

02-04 springs are different from 05+.

the passenger side spring on 05+ is inversely wound to help reduce bump steer. Also, the rear shocks have been detuned because of the larger stock rear sway-bar.

Basically, you will need the entire strut/shock assembly in order to make them work in 02-04 and vice versa

Just to clear up the situation -

I have an '02. The passenger side lower arm is bent. I ordered a used but good arm off ebay, but it came from a 2005. The 2005 ball joint is bigger, so I can either get a 2005 knuckle or a 2002 lower arm. 2005 knuckle is ~$130 and the 2002 lower arm is ~$230. So I'm hoping the '05 knuckle will work. I would then be using the 2005 lower arm, the 2005 knuckle and the existing 2002 strut assembly (as well as axle).
