Default gsr swap pros and cons

the search engine isnt working right now, at least for me its not.

with that said, i would like you guy to help me out. i got $4000 saved up now and i was planning on saving up for an ITR motor swap in my 96 ek HB. i want to go N/A but turbo would be fun too. anyways, what would you guys do. im not basing my choice on what anyone else does, i just want more opinions of stuff i might not have thought of yet.

im now thinking gsr for reasons of being fast and fun while i decide on N/A of FI, but my friend says get a b16 now, buy and ls block and sleeve it to 85mm.

sorry if im boring you. im sure this has been answered so refer me to another post if you can. thanx.

hmmm gsr vs. itr...?

pros of itr vs gsr
itr-
lsd, valvetrain, cams, intake manifold, header, valve cover ( ), port'n'polished head.

gsr-
need that **** the itr has and you gotta put it in too...

I say you get the GSR..
you will be quick enough.

Depending on how fast are you trying to go.
ITR won't be a bad idea either.
but it all depends on how fast you wanna go, and your long run plans of your car

if you go type r you'll be in the 13's with a stock honda engine won't be hard to do with gsr either, just have to mod it a bit.

I didn't think that for 4grand you could put together a reliable crvtec? and I thought the b16/B18C5 head were better due to their better flow designs?

I think the only problem with the ITR is that it's so expensive! Aren't they $5000+ for just the changeover?? With $4000...I'd just go GSR.

my opinion is this:
for the price of a itr you can buy a gsr and have it faster
or for the money you could do a ls/turbo set up...it does pretty good & less wiring

Can everybody post the pro's of why they chose each engine? It seems like everybody is quick to point out an engine but they don't point out why.(except for a few people).I'm just trying to help this guy get some accurate info and not just rumored sugestions.
So why b18 over b16 if your going turbo
why b18c5 over b18c1.What can be done (specifically) do the b18c1 for the same price as the b18c5 to make the b18c1 faster? etc...

GSR, It isn't that hard to get traction. All you have to is learn how to drive your car with the new motor and you will have no problem hooking up.

Build your car to suit yourself, not other people. LOL!

b18 over b16 why? because of torque
that extra .2 L is going to give tons more torque when u have a turbo (FI) on it
or when u put bigger cams (N/A)

more displacement more potential for power. 1.8

Type R swaps go for 4k+ - i've seen $5k full changeovers too.
GSR's will go for 3k-4k

Type R's have the advantage N/A wise, it has the perfect start outta the box
goto the type R forum, u'll see that the majority of them are N/A peeps
with a buncha bolt on's, u can see 13's with ez
you can get 12's without upgrading to hi compression pistons also just with some cams and tuning.

GSR - has a lower compression then the R motor, turbo friendly and its just the best engine overall. you can spray nos, supercharge it, turbo it, run allmotor
it'll just cost more. the tranny also is lenient, it isn't as short as the R tranny.

these are just ez pro's and cons'

the bottom line is pricing, the best bang for the buck is the GSR
well...also the LS, but were talking about VTEC motors here.

Here's my set up. 3000 for GSR first then 2600 for Drag 3 = 5600 bucks and put out 240 hp at the wheel at 7psi.

Get a jdm b16, preferably obd1 , and sleeve to 2.0L specs. better then b20vtec.. and probably cost a lil less to make it run right.
