i am questioning hondas reliability at least when it come to the d15 i threw a rod through my block a couple months ago and got a use d15 out of the junk yard with 80k on it and now my check oil light comes on if the engine is below about 1500rpm im guessing it oil pressure because there is oil in the engine im wondering what could be the cause of this whats wrong with it where to take it to to get it check it out any help would be appreciated

185k on my d15 and i beat the **** outa it...daily. Not a single problem yet, except cooling system ****.

 

well this is 2 engines ive had problems with and i thought these cars were supposed to take anything ive seen a video where they drain the oil out and replace it with water and it takes a while to blow it up but any way does anyone know what my problem could be has any one had problems with their oil pressure

 

You could have a debris in ur oil system restricting the flow of oil, as well as a bad oil filter. U may have not enough oil. Dont blame Honda, blame the maintenance that wasnt done on the engine. Mine has 234 6xx miles on my B16A3 and its running like a champ for its age. Beautiful. Im gonna be a Honda guy for a while.

 

im not blaming honda im wondering if theres a part that comonly goes bad and i do maintence it i change the oil every 2500 miles and get it tuned up about every 10k so its not maitence i know how to take care of my cars i just want to know what could be wrong

 

maybe the people who owned them before you might be the ones to blame for there maintanence. maybe they made one of the drain the oil out and drive it videos and changed there mind half way down there road

 

unlikely with two engines what are the chances and it was an older woman who owned the car before me im just wondering what should i look for seriously if any one knows let me know thanks

 

I've got just over 73,500 on my EM1, I bought it with 38k on it and over the two years and a few months I've had it, I've beat the **** out of it occasionally. So far the only code I've ever thrown is a Bank one O2 sensor malfunction.

Picked up a Denso O2 from rywire.com for 85 bucks and it's fixed.

its not my check engine light its my oil light and i can feel a big difference in the way it drives it feels doged down something is wrong with it

 

Check the oil pump.

it seems to me like you just need to put oil in the damn thing. the light is letting you know there there is low oil pressue due to lack of..... "oil".

No, that's just not true. The oil light is a pressure light, not a level light. The only time an oil light will come on due to low oil is if there's no oil for the pump to pick up. If it's on when the level is full, it's a problem with the pump 99% of the time.

do the oil pumps go out often in these engines or do i just have bad luck

guess im a little tired i didnt see that. so your saying though you checked the oil right?

 

THERE IS ENOUGH OIL IN THE ENGINE THE OIL LEVEL IS PERFECT I CHECKED THE OIL

hondas are only as good as the way you take care of them.
The motor you got from the junkyard could have been sitting for years, it is a gamble

 

im gonna step out on a limb here and take a pretty good guess...


first off. Make sure your oil pressure sensor is connected and the connecter its self is not all corroded, next if thats fine replace your oil pump or you will be replacing yet another motor. I know that can get on your nerves because ive been there. Except my problem laid with my b18b turbo hatch and then i swaped it to a b16a and loved it.

 

Yeah, the motor from the junkyard had probably been sitting for quite a while, so I would have gone over it before even installing it. Check your oil pump and the pickup down in the pan for clogs. Hell I'd replace the oil pump while I was at it, but it's your choice =P

D16Z6 with 103,969 miles. I beat the hell out of it everyday and it just keeps on going. Honda ftw!

 

Yeah, honda reliability is the best my winter beater I sold alittle while ago had over 300,000 in the original motor. I replaced the clutch, timing belt and tie rod ends, and some brakes on it, while I owned it. Other than that is was a perfect winter beater never let me down at all.

I've got 170,000 on my D16Z6 in my Sol and it still runs smooth as silk
all the way to redline... Still has great compresssion too!

i had a 83 1500s it had 375000 on it when i sold it and it didnt burn or leak any oil love that car to death sold it to a friend for $800 as a favor and it is still running today over 400000 on it. that car has been to cali and back to kc 4 times no major problems at all. so just trust you honda and read your sig "honda is boss"
