Default Is the CBR600 similar to the Katana?

After getting my 1000RR, my fiancee is wanting her own bike. We were near the Suzuki dealer earlier this week, and she sat on a 02 Katana 600, and liked it the best compared to the GSXR and another bike. At a farther away dealer, there is a 2000 CBR600. It appears to be similar to the Katana, am I wrong? The tail section is slightly messed up from an accident, but the seat seems to be the same or similar to the Katana. Any help?

Wow you have a 1000rr and you think the Kantana is similar to the F4. The F4 is superior to the Katana is almost every way. The Katana seating is a little more upright than the F4 but thats about the only upside, if you really could consider it an upside at all. The F4 is lighter, more manueverable, more horsepower, has a smoother powerband and has better overall suspension. All those features are great if you're looking for a sportbike. If your fiancee just wants a bike to cruise around the city with you she might like the less power of the Katana and the more upright seating position.

dont forget the F4 is considered the most rider friendly sport bike out. also the handle bars sit a little lower on the F4 than the Katana. Its a more agressive feel... but still a comfortable bike.

Burn.....lol I agree though.

I guess I just saw the "uni-seat" and thought they might be comparable.....Ive never sat on either, just the 600RR and GSXR. I thought they might have been comparable.

All Can-o-tunas are ugly. But take comfort in the knowledge that no one will steal your fiancee's bike.

Katanas are good bikes. If you never ever throw a leg over another bike, you wouldn't have a care in the world. But the moment you try something slightly more sporty, you'll crave that thrill and the Katana just won't cut it anymore.

But that's assuming she want something sportier.

how tall is she? this is a factor since it might limit the bikes you are able to consider.

Those 650Rs are nice bikes, but I don't think that front headlamp will ever grow on me

It's not even fair comaring a Katana to an F4i. The Katana's were considered "state of the art" in the mid 80's..

did anyone ask if this was going to be her first bike? If so, get her a busa and just save some time between now and the inevitable...

wow...

A Katana is a great starter bike, not to much power to get you in trouble but fun to ride if you have never ridden any other sport bike. I made the mistake of buying one after my gsxr600 was stolen........it sucked.....i rode it like 10 times then sold it within a month. I hated even riding it, it was no fun
