building my b18c1....need advice
I'm putting some supertech valve springs and retainers in my 95 gsr head for $320. Skunk2 Cam gears for 180. And i'm debating in whether or not i should get USED stage 2 Skunk2 Cams for $450 OBO or Stage2 BLOX cams for $500 Brand new. And my car is completely bone stock right now, so would it be smart to go stage 2 or stage 1?
ya true thats not enough compression for those cams. my buddy is running stage 1's in his stock gsr with 2 layer gasket, head milled 20 thous, and the power is nice and smooth. i guess go ahead and do it, increase the rev limit a lil and see what happens if u dont like it step down to the stage 1's GL.
in all seriousness...there is no reason to upgrade valve springs/valves/retainers if you are not upgrading the cams...so definitely upgrade. If you are trying to go for the whole setup i would check out Rocket Motorsports cam/valvetrain package, the M22. Check out the all motor forum too and you'll get a lot information about cam and valvetrain options. Hope this helps a little
ya, i've gotten different advice about stage1 and stage2 cams....i'm going to have to get some pistons along with the build if i'm gonna go stage 2 just to build the compression, but does anyone know about BLOX cams? I have a buddy selling them for $500 brand new in the box. As good as Skunk2 or no? The Skunk2's are used but in "good" condition for $425. Also, if u have some supertech valve springs and/or retainers installed in ur car, let me know the goods/bads.
