H22 street/drag CRX, decision on brakes?
I have a 1989 crx with h22 engine and am wanting to run it on the street and strip. On the strip I want to be able to run slicks on the stock wheels then have a seperate pair of alloys with road tyres. My question is shall I go for a big brake kit or just go for an uprated stock sized kit?
Cheers

I'll leave it stock and see how I get on. Do you run slicks? are you running stock discs and bigger calipers? thanks

I run slicks. I have cross drilled rotors in the front all stock size and drums in the rear.

The extra 42,000,000,000,000,003E29 lbs the H22 adds != brake upgrade.
The car will decelerate just like it did with the SOHC, the only difference is that you will accelerate a lot faster lol. so it's more a question of how happy you are with the brakes in general rather than the engine/chassis combination (if that's what you were worried about. The only time you'd notice a small difference is if you are applying the brakes while in gear.. but who does that?
Fat dudes drive CRX's all the time and they dont have trouble stopping.. unless a few burgers get wedged under the brake pedal and your hands are too greasy to pull the e-brake..

on my h22 rex I have integra brembo slotted all around I recommend for safety on the street to have the discs in the back it may save your but and life. But far as comparing h22 to a GSR 30-40 lbs difference...

My car has completely stock 88 brakes and drums. I have some decent pads and never buy the "econo" brake/suspension stuff. The brakes felt perfectly safe at 100+mph and around town.
any guys running 130mph+ with stock brakes?

I trap 133 all day long and i am running stock brakes, but i have 4 wheel disc. But my car also weights more.
I would get slotted rotors and good pads for front and wither upgrade to discs in back or just get new shoes. The front brakes do the most of the work, so make sure they are good.
