Default Installed my Apex'i N1 suspension!

wow. i like. on full stiff, it's...stiff. on full soft...it's still stiff. but very nice. They're really weird though, b/c the shock body is so short, when you jack the car up, the wheel gap extends no further than where the stock suspension looked when it was on the ground (i.e, about 2.5 inches from tire to fender, gotta love it.

Thats the tradeoff for a short body sus. The longer travel helps ride height but you lose droop capabilities.

handles a lot like stock (which is a GOOD thing), but much stiffer, and i'm definitely getting much more feedback from the car. which is also definitely good.

Apexi N1 99 spec sucks like ****. STock is even better than it, I can't believe they cost 1000. That thing won't even worth a penny. I bought it, almost wanted to sell it the next day. I ended up selling it after 1 month.

Then I picked up Tein RA, the difference is night and day, but it's WAY TOO stiff for daily driving.

Then I picked up Zeal B2, great compromise for street and track.

For Apexi, with the pillow mount, the car bumper as hell, but way too much body roll. the handles worse than stock suspension, almost like a Camry.
without the pillowmount, even worse, I can't even explain, but I don't know how they can sell just shitty stuff for such a price and people a praising it. Probably because it's JDM brand.

Throughout your entire post, you didn't say once why you didn't like the Apex'is..the one reason i did seem to pick out is the car is "bumper as hell" and has body roll. When you put a stiffer suspension in, the car WILL be bumpier, that's given. and body roll? nonexistant in my car now. I'm not sure if you got a bum set of n1's, but it sounds like you're talking about a completely different system, if you care to elaborate as to why you didn't like it, i'd appreciate it. I honestly want to hear what about it you didn't like.

I have a set of spec 99 N1 on my civic hatch and i got to say they are not bad. Well, probaly not as stiff as the TEIN RA that is on my friend's ITR but the RA's are also MUCH more pricy compared to the N1s. I found that on full stiff, it's teeth shattering but when at full soft, it's just a tad stiffer than the stock ITR suspension. Body roll has also been greatly reduced compared to stock. Personally, i like the N1 cause the RAs are WAY too rough for the street. The N1 for DC chassis come with 11k/fr and 5k/r. On the front spring, you will find "8110" markings on the and "9050" on the back. This leads to another reason why the RAs are stiffer compared to the N1. The RAs has a 14k/fr and 10k/r which is higher than the N1.

But one thing that the N1 is better than the RAs is the ability to adjust the ride height without compromising with the preload of the spring because you can adjust the ride height of the car by playing with the length of the shock.

Just ran the buttonwillow event on my 99spec n1's with upgraded pillow mounts. Given that im a VERY novice driver, the suspension was great, that's all I have done, no sway bars or strut bars besides the stock engine bay one. I was running on 16" yokohama a520 rubber... barely got any worms on it as EP would say.

Only gripe I have with it is that the right rear suspension chatters like a mother F. I can't get it to stop, maybe it's the pillow mounts but damn, wtf. All other 3 corners are fine. I don't know what is causing the noise.. anyone know?

xjohnx, you should enjoy them.
