Fuel octanes?
So I have been seeing posts lately and people are saying they run "plus" or "premium" gas in their cars. So I know how the whole octane thing works with the timing and anti knocking and all that jazz, so are these just the people running the crazy tuned engines and such? Or do people with stock D15s put high octane gas in their cars for no reason? Or has anyone noticed that high octane gas is making a difference. My friend claims his GTI runs better on "plus" but I dunno?
Just wanting to clarify this.

read your owners manual. iv got a stock d15 in my dx and it says to use 91 or higher. you can still use 87 but im sure 91 is better if it says it in the manual. why dont people read their manuals????
I have read it. I just don't remember that being in there. It also says in Porsche manuals that you should change your motor oil every 15 thousand miles (which MAY be OK) but I still don't think I would do that. haha.
man i wish i had the original manual for my car....15 years old and 3+ previous owners means no manual.
i also wish i had the original wiring, but thats another story.
as for octane, i run 91 in my car. there are probably people on here that could say its a waste of money, and some people, me included that will refuse to run anything else. as for performance, i cant really vouch either way, cause ive only ever run 91 in my car.
i look forward to tuning my car for 91 octane when i get a wideband though.

it is in the manual.. its in with everything els about fuel. says to use 91 research octane or higher.. but it also says there are no benifits when useing anything higher. or something like that.
