putting a d15b7 into my 89 hatch
ok how is everyone thanks for looking and please help me out i just go a 89 hatch shell today and i have a d15b7 out of my 94 hatch. tell me absolutely everything i will need to do this. so far i know i need a cable tranny, a ecu jumper harness to go from obd0-obd1 for the ecu. this is all i know that i need so far help me out thanks....
is ur hatch dpfi or mpfi? if its dpfi then youll have to switch to mpfi. you can use the search for that... but the d15b7 and d15b2 are pretty similar so if you have the old head and just get a si distro, si intake manifold and pm6 (Si ecu) then you wouldnt have to switch to obd1

that and, if ur bad at wiring, just get the complete thing from rywire for $300
it has the obd0-obd1, dpfi-mpfi and vtec harness
http://rywire.com/store/produc...a111c
there ya go
but ya other than the wiring, i would recommend getting a 5 speed si cable tranny if u dont already have it, im guesing ur gonna want the 89 for it. but we need to know what model you have. for one of the models, im pretty sure u can use ur stock axles for the job, but ive been told that they go out after a couple months with the swap, so after u do the swap, start looking around at the junkyard for si axles/hubs
thats pretty much it, maybe some new motor mounts if urs are in bad condition, but that somes it up, failry cheap swap if dont have to do the wiring bs. if i missed anything someone add it for me
wait 1 more thing, ur gonna either need a p08 or p28 ecu
the p08 is made specifically for that motor, but other people have used the p28, the p28 is used for like 92-95 civic ex/vx's or something like that, i know its 92-95 though. and that curent motor is a 92-95. but ya either one will work, but um ive also read that the p28 will make ur motor run slightly rich because its made to work with 1.6 liter engines, such as the d16's, so if u wanna get it chpped that chpped with like crome, uberdata, jun, and such, that would solve the problem

I'm unsure where you're getting your information, but it's dead wrong.
The d15b7 is essentially the same thing as an obd1 version of the d15b2. I'd even venture to say that you could get a pm6 (obd0 MPFI ECU) and a obd0 SI/EX/HF distributor and run this engine as obd0.
If you want to run obd1 I'd just convert to MPFI, get a p06 ECU, and a conversion harness off of ebay.
If money is the real decision maker just stick with obd0 and convert to MPFI. You won't need the injector resistor box however as you'll be using obd1 injectors
original poster, what model is your 89 hatch? do you still have the entire wiring harness/ECU from your 94 hatch? You could really move everything over to your 89 if you wanted to.

Are you no longer planning on using your 94 any more? If so, you can do one of a few things.
1) Take ALL of the wiring out of the 94 and transplant it into your 89. You'll have to get a little creative when it comes to the instrument cluster and whatnot, or you can just put your 94 instrument cluster in the 89 Hatch as well. If you do this you'll have to keept he VSS from the 94 and put it on your new cable tranny. This will be the cleanest route, but VERY time consuming and will probably **** you off a bit when you try to wire all of the dash harness together.
2) Send both the 89 and 91 wiring harness into rywire and pay them $300 to make a hybrid engine harness for you so you can use your ECU from the 94.
3) Convert your DX harness to MPFI (will take like 3 hours MAYBE if you havn't done it before) and run your d15b7 with a pm6 (88-91 SI/EX) ECU. This option is probably the easiest and the cheapest. You can get a pm6 on ebay really cheap. **cough**
If you have any extra parts in the end from your 94 let me know and I wouldn't mind taking a few off of your hands.

If you use the ECU out of your 94 you'll also need to either buy or make a obd0->obd1 conversion harness. This is also more wiring, but will give you the benefit of obd1.

That should tell you everything you need to do the swap.
I still think you might be better off with a obd0 ecu. You don't have to wire for obd1, and you'll save time and money. If d15b7 was a performance engine I'd say to go obd1. As it is, however, you won't be running 12s anytime soon with your d15b7.
