This is a picture of my cigarette console for my 1996 Honda Civic hatchback cx. Questions below.....




My underdash harness only has a negative (ground) and a power wire that would usually go to the Acc. power for cell phones, etc. The console I have now has three wires I would assume one would be a ground and one would be a power but I don't really understand what the second one is for? I would assume its would act as a switch because theres a light built into it so you can see whats inside the console. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

 

it is for the light ring/accent ring around the cigarette lighter and light bulb

 

Mine doesn't have a light ring around the ciragette lighter, I think thats only on the JDM civics. But it shouldn't always have constant power going to the light inside the console should it? As for the light ring I would assume on JDM models that when you turn on your healights the light ring would light up.....its weird because the consolse light doesn't have a switch for it or anything that would mean its always on?...
