Default More security for my car

Well now that im starting to get involved giving my car new interior gifts, a kill switch is no longer the only thing I need, I was planning on getting an alarm system, but I also dont want to spend 500 on it either, I was looking through ebay and I see some for unbelievably cheap. So has anyone had experience with the ebay alarms ? ?

well i can easly hear that you have a kill start but you should try to wire a relay to your starter, instead of 500 you can spend 5

cool, but my goal is to not have my car stolen in the first place. I know-I know you weenies say that if the theif really wants your car; they will have it. BULLSHIT. Play defense; run outside and spray them with your gun.

i cant account for all alarms on ebay being crap, but i know mine was. basically i looked in the crutchfield catalog and looked up their best alram. them looked on ebay and purchased the same one for about 150 cheaper than what crutchfield was advertising. it was good while it lasted...a whole 3 months.

The Ebay alarms are alright but most will not last as long as say a viper or clifford system, but as far a securing your ride its all in the installation hiding the siren, the brain, and disguising the wiring to look like stock... So that the dirty thief cant just kill the alarm in 20 seconds by simply removing the brain Just dont take it to circuit city and youll be alright

i install alarms for a living.

the whitebox stuff on ebay is 100% garbage.

if your only looking for the alarm features look into something like a Viper 350HV. Most retailers sell them for about 200$

If you want the 2 way paging feature then your in for more of an expense.

Alarms, like many other things in the world, are a "get what you pay for" item in terms of quality and also warranty.

Stay within the DirectEd family of products and you cant go wrong. (Viper, Hornet, Clifford etc) I'm not saying others dont make good pieces, but based on my experience they stand behind their product and do not **** on people when it comes time to warranty items.

Keep in mind they will insist the item has been installed by an autorized retailer and install center.

In closing, white box ****/off brand sh*t = horrid.

If you want some tips on how to make it harder to disable and find your alarm in your EF, PM me.

Yeah I found a 2-way paging one with just about everything, with a 1 year warranty for I think a total of 135.00 shipped. And I totally agree with SFI, I dont want lojack b/c the cops will have me on their GPS, and also I have a few very good kill switch ideas, So im just gonna put those in there.

So overall I just want an alarm system so noone can jack my soon2be sparcos and my autometer or my deck, basically anything they can yoink w/o my car leaving its spot.

For the Sparcos...another layer of security would be to mount them with "tamper resistant" bolts.
Take the stock bolt to a suppler that specializes in fastners. They can match thread pitch/size/length and get you a head that uses something other than a standard socket (like a torx or even allen head)...something a thief usually doesn't carry around.

just do what I do, my car is a POS, so I don't ever even lock it. If someone wants it they can have it.

but the mad vibration would probably scare them away right when they started it.

I took the ignition out of an 92-95 civic and replaced mine with it, so the key doesn't match the vin. I heard that they only made like 5 differnt keys for the ef's.
