Default Base Or Type S?

Hello, I Know this may have been posted before but I seriously need help right now so I can show my parents.

I was thinking of getting the rsx! the thing is, theres a type s and the base one, but the impatient person i am i want the rsx SOON! i could get a base rsx probably in a month but i would have to wait alittle bit longer for the type s. since the type s cost more couldnt i just use the money that i would have used for the type s to just make the base alittle bit better? sorry if i dont make sense. but i also heard that the base redlines at 6500 rpm i think and the type s redlines at 8? plz help me clarify and what not. im so noob. sorry !

You're 15. Get an older GSR/LS to learn to drive on. No offense, but lots of kids crash their cars within a few weeks of their purchase, and it'd be better for you to start off with a cheaper car. Especially if you're learning to drive a stick.

But with age and experience aside, I'd opt for the S.

I have a base I thought the same thing at first. I couldn't wait and I got a really good deal. You can never turn a base into a type S without completely changing the engine and tranny. But you can come close and even surpass it. The money you spend to make them close to equal is more than the differance in the initial cost. but there are some small advantages to a base.
1. It's a sleeper. Without the badging and body kit you could sneak up on some one
2. Insurance- what the dmv and insurance co. don't know will save you money.

The redlines are differant and the base doesn't use vtec on the exhaust side. BUt you can change that with a reflash of the ecu and change the cams.

since when does a RSX type S have a k20z1? m1k3? btw, on another note, the type S has around 50-60 more base HP at the crank than the base RSX. also, the base RSX's "vtec" is actually a type of vtec-E which is used to support better gas mileage while the type S has "i vtech" which is performance based(sort of). so performance wise, no, the k20a3 will never catch up with the k20a2. they're two different motors. thats just like comparing a b16a to a b18c5

i was just browsing the website for acura and the correct redlines for the base and type S are: 6500 and 7800. over revving it will get you no more power even though they are both able to rev higher.

It's Brake Horsepower. For 2005-2006 the Type-S's redline is 8100, and rev-limiter is 8300.

I say get the Type S... its wayyyy more worth it...

the puny regular RSX is shitty and is gonna cost you more money in the long run just to bring it into type S territory...

not even worth it....

It's only a few grands more for the type-S... but it's really worth over 5 grands more....

It's better to be patient and wait for the type S...

I personally haven't seen anyone who doesn't regret getting the base... ( except for those who prefer the luxry of automatic tranny ) ....

type-S model is way superior to the base in every aspects.... and the Base model is ......well um...... just a base model.....

For nothing more than your age, BASE model. I have a hard enough time driving it civil at times and I'm 25. If I had this car at 15 I'd be dead.

the stock rims...has to be the 05-06's stock Type S rims...they look hella nice...and BOM!!!!! that color is so sexy... i want a 05-06 Type-s but i'm stuck with my gsr. don't get me wrong.i love my gsr but i plan on getting a 05-06 Type S..

if i was you i should just start off with a beater car, not a BRAND NEW RSX TYPE-S... once you get a hang of driving and driving a stick, then go for the Type S.

so the acura website quotes their own cars wrong... mkay. but i guess type S owners would know their car better than others would.

and those that tell him to get a beater car...this is his chance to get a brand new car and your telling him to get a beater car? all he needs to do it learn slowly and not drive like a jackass if he gets the type S.

i know it sucks to be told you shouldnt get this car cuz of your age... but if you get the type s, i hope you are insanely careful... i totaled my first car within half a year of getting it. Luckily it was a p.o.s. cavalier.

Which do you think?

Type S = Better across the board.

For Instance:

Should I get a type R or gsr?

----See this would be a decision due to what the owners needs were.
GSR- suited for street
R- suited for track
Although I along with most now would choose an R, a person young like yourself could debate about these two. However an S is a win/win situation if you have the extra money.

The ONLY reason to get a base is for the auto trans. A dick head driver is gonna be a dick head driver no matter what he drives. Be cool, and you'll be OK with the TypeS, at 15 yrs old, watch out for the haters though.

Get a used type s (like '02). That way you won't feel as bad if you dent it or something, and its only slightly underpowered compared to the newer ones.

edit/also, listen to mister x, he makes a very good point about drivers and *********. Just know your limits and you'll be fine no matter what your age.
