NHRA rollbar for a del Sol
Does anyone make a kit for this?
Car is my daily driver, I'd like to keep it as such but I already run under 12 seconds so with this year's rule changes I need a rollbar to run the street classes. The car isn't going to be used for competition, just Street Legal nights at the track.
I have several very competent sources for installation, just wondering what's out there for kits, and if there's anything I need to know to ensure it is track-legal

but ive never seen a rollbar for a del sol.. you might have to fab something up

Its not a matter of "getting away" with it. It should be a matter of safety. Thats why the rules are there to begin with. But thats their call to increase their risk of injury or death

Thanks guys, does Jason do custom cage work? I'm kinda far away to drop my car off there
Different country and all, hehe...
I've been talking to Charles at safedrives.com who says they have an S&W rollbar available that meets all the NHRA specs, but I'm not sure yet that it keeps the car in street form. I can check off all the options on their site but they don't list applications and that worries me, the del Sol is kind of a "special" case
I'm not interested in trying to squeak through tech without the bar, they do quite a stringent tech at my local track before we can race, so it'd be off and on whether I got to race or not anyway.

OK so far I've been in contact with http://www.safedrives.com about the rollbar (I haven't heard back from them yet if they have a del Sol specific STREET CAR kit), and I just emailed Ken's Kustom Chassis at http://www.kenskustomchassis.com/ - I'll try and keep this thread updated. Thanks all who contacted me, I haven't decided anything yet so still looking for more info
Wow, that's a nice cage - I like how it goes through the dash! You definitely lose operation of the rear window with that setup do you not? Does the NHRA spec require a brace from the top of the main hoop to the rear of the car? I have the rulebook on order but it hasn't arrived so I can't check myself... thanks Jasen!
Also, it's remarkably difficult to find pictures of your car on the 'Net. I swear I spent an hour on Google last night searching under your name, haha

yes you do need 2 points from the top of the main hoop down to the back of the car.

The rear function of the window is not availaible with tbis cage setup... The only other way to do it would to have the cage exit the rear of the car, through the window, and thendown through the deck lid... (rear).... Not very clean at all... Look at it on the bright side... You loos like 20 lbs by removing the motor and track assy... lol... JAsen
