Default 2006 NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series Contingency info...

CONTINGENCY POSTINGS INCREASE BY MORE THAN $600,000 IN NHRA XPLOD SPORT COMPACT RACING SERIES

GLENDORA, Calif. (March 7, 2006) -- NHRA Officials announced today the 2006 contingency postings in the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series.

With over 20 postings from more than 30 different automotive companies, the NHRA Sport Compact contingency program now offers a total series value of nearly $2.1 million, more than a $600,000 increase from the 2005 season. At each stop on the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series circuit more than $213,000 is available to competitors through the contingency program.

Several new companies have joined the Sport Compact Contingency program for 2006 to help push the total postings to nearly $2.1 million. NHRA Sport Compact is proud to have Acura, Honda, Toyota/TRD, Scion, Chevrolet, Pontiac and Nissan back in 2006.

“We are certainly proud of the participation shown by many of the most high profile companies in the automotive aftermarket, as well as automotive manufacturers, in our NHRA Sport Compact contingency program,” said Josh Peterson, general manager of the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series. “The nearly $2.1 million in postings available to the racer continues to show the value companies place on the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series.”

In conjunction with announcement of the 2006 Contingency postings, the NHRA Sport Compact Web site has been updated to reflect the companies involved it the contingency program. Under the Contingency Sponsor link on the homepage, http://www.nhrasportcompact.co....html, links have been provided to each company’s Web site, listings of products companies are posting for and contact information.

For an in-depth explanation on how the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series contingency program works before arriving at the track and during the event please visit the following link: http://www.nhrasportcompact.co...d=104

The NHRA is the premier sanctioning body for sport compact drag racing. It is presenting the 11-race, $2.5 million NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series at nine tracks across the country from April through October. In addition, the series offers a year-end championship fund of $144,000, bonus program payouts near $20,000, along with more than $2.1 million in contingency payouts.

The series is highlighted by its five championship classes (Pro RWD, Pro FWD, Modified, Hot Rod and Honda Tuning All Motor). In addition, and at all nine of the stand-alone NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series events, the NHRA Xplōd Stylefest showcases a compliment of the lifestyle and entertainment elements synonymous with today’s sport compact scene. I was just wondering if I can have all the contingency money company stickers made up in my own colors and designs, or do they have to be the actual company stickers in there own designs???

Many of the contingency sponsor do not mind if you color match and/or die cut their logos. However, there are some that require you run the logo that they produce. To make sure, please contact the said companies (contacts are on http://www.nhrasportcompact.co...html ) to ask what they require.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Gary,
With Dunlop being on the contingency list... will we have an approved Dunlop tire in SPFWD?
Thanks
Mike

Vince,

The Massagie will not be part of the NHRA Contingency program this year due to misuse by Ron Bergenholtz.

Mike,

As of today Dunlop is not approved for SPFWD. However, we are working with Dunlop and Goodyear to get additional tires approved. Keep checking http://www.nhrasportcompact.co...d=104 for the updated tires.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
