Brake Project
decided to put some time and energy into correcting a Rotora big brake kit for my S. Been using these brakes now for a long time on many different honda's and very happy with the quality and functionality of these brakes. regardless of opinions on rotora, this post is to demonstrate the modifications and not to start a discussion on who prefers which kit (just to get that out of the way)
A friend of mine is the importer for rotora in the netherlands ,thus I can get my hands on these fairly cheap. Another friend sells stoptech, but these kits both had the same problems; the offset.... both kits required spacers, and I hate spacers!
First of all; I have advan RG II's regardless of the wheelspokes going outward, I still needed a spacer of approx. 11-12 mm.
Then I discovered that rotora, like stoptech leaves a considerable distance in offset towards the hub unused. The distance I had inwards was 10-11mm, which would greatly solve my problem. I decided to make new brakehats on a cnc-lathe.
This also enabled me to overcome my lack of offset on the wheelside by making the hat thicker on the wheelside, solving my total offset problem and only moving the wheel outward 2-3 mm! thus went on measuring and trying and finally figured out the correct measurements and proceeded on with lathing the hats and modifiing the brackets
The old versus the new:

Redrilled and tapped steel bracket:

how it looks on the disk:

how it looks with the caliper :

still a lot of work to be done, final fitting and testing and then powdercoating of the new hat
just to keep you guys fed with info and me having an evening off..........

finally found the time for testfitting, result=super, had to shim the caliper just a bit but that was taken up in the calculations because otherwise the redrilled hole in the caliper bracket would be to close to the old hole and strenght would be compromised.
The final result is everything I had hoped for, the disks and calipers moved inwards 10mm and with a 3 mm thicker hub (on the rim side) I got rid of the huge spacers and with only moving my rim out 3mm!
Now all that is left is to paint the hubs and re-install them with the stainless lines...
me=happy

by the way is that blue color custom from rotora... or custom painted/powder coated by you?</TD></TR></TABLE>
2 will do the trick....
the blue is indeed a custom rotora color, had them made in this color for my R33 as well (now awaiting it's paintjob; white with white volk TE37's and babyblue calipers..lol)

humm.. interesting... i think those baby blue calipers would look good on my suzuka...
now i need a real good review from you.. lol.... (i'm not a big fan of rotora, so you have a lot of work to do to convince me that these are worth it.. over the stoptechs..... )

everything works, just need to find the cause of the rubbing sound when I turn or hit a bump, when I lift the car and check everything, all is ok, but when a load is on the wheel and I turn or hit a bump, I hear this sound. A wheel bearing would explain this sound, nothing hits anything and straight line is perfect, slight turns ok as well...maybe need to re-tighten the hubs....mmm will continue tomorrow

I noticed a little wear spot on the arm of the spindle where the steering rack connects. You think it might be some rubbing there because of the additional brake offset?
