Default Power Windows, Sunroof, SLOW

So when I try to roll down my windows, not only do they literally fall into the door cause they're off track (All I have to do to fix this is take off the door panel and put it back on track, right?), but they fall SOO slow. My sunroof does the same thing. As a matter of fact, the only power option in my car that works well is my locks.

I know that I shouldn't expect everything to be perfect cause the car is so old, but has anyone else ever had this problem and/or know how to fix it? Is it a fuse or something that can be easily replaced? I'm tired of having to hold my sunroof button for a full minute to get it to open, and occasionally giving it some helpful shoves when it slows down nearly to a stop.

Thanks

I don't have a fix, but bump for the sunroof issue. Mine is slow as hell when its cold outside. Ok when its warm.

i had the same problem. when you take apart the door make sure that you put the rubber insert in the runner for the window, it helps alot with noise and speed. i also used a small amount of mutil-purpose oil on the arms and in the motor gear to
help things out. with the sunroof try cleaning the runners and using some grease

good luck
HTH

one more thing, with the rubber insert make sure it underlapps the plastic runner from the top of the door other wise when u roll it down the window will just push the rubber out if the runner.

later

I wanted to say it mighta been something electrical, I don't think the problem with the windows is just that their off track.

My knowledge on cars is pretty limited, I'm still trying to learn...whats the vtec solenoid? My car isn't vtec, and I have no idea what the solenoid is, or even how to begin to start checkin' it.

I don't even try to mess with my sunroof and windows in the cold, my sunroof freezes shut in the snow, impossible to open. But they even go very slow in the warm weather. I dunno what the hell is wrong

Thanks

Hehe sorry. Just playing around since that seems to answer the majority of questions here.

Grease the sunroof tracks, and as far as the windows, use silicone lubricant on the window tracks.

Jesse,
Do you have any recommendations for grease on the sunroof tracks? Thanks

Default amp draw

if you thinks its electrical, check to see how much amprage your pulling form the battery. If its real low it might be the reason why the sunroof closes at a crawl. you might also want to check the condition of the altenator.

I used vasaline, no joke! It works like a dream. If you are not as cheap as I am, go and find some silicon based lubricant.

for the sunroof use something like WD-40 or some cleaner and wipe w/ a heavy towel that wont break/leave behind debris... then after its all clean.. use white lithium grease on the sunroof tracks (after its all cleaned) and it should be smooth again. thats how i fixed it on my 95 .... for the windows after you get it back on the tracks.. clean them inside out w/ glass cleaner..then roll it down so u expose the black rubber weather stripping.. I used Armor All (the stuff I use on my dash) to wipe on the black weather stirpping.. I noticed even tho my dash was dusty.. it was still slippery/smooth.. so i tried it on my windows where the glass contacts the black rubber weatherstripping.. and my windows are way faster/smoother than before..

FOmaNPu: all of these fix-it ideas may work but are only temporary. I had an 88 Acura Legend and every single window was a piece of ****. I had to help my sunroof almost every single time. I tried every thing from vasealine to all purpose oil. Any lubricatition worked, but only for a day or so, never more than a week.

Any way, my driver side window got so bad that some piece inside snapped in half. I don't remember what the name was but it was a pain to fix. I took it to a shop and they replaced the part for like $249 plus labor for checking both windows.

The guy told me that the other window was on its way down the same path, so they took the panel off and tightened some bolts or something. What ever they did, the windows worked fine after that and never got worse.

Also, in my 96 GSR (also with high milage) my driver side window is much slower than my passenger side. (This seems to run in the Acura family) The driver side being slower is sort of funny, because originally, the passenger side would roll down half way, then get stuck and need help to contiue. I believe because my car has been in an accident. I lived with this for a long time, then, when I put a rear-upper strut tower brace in my trunk, and one under the chasis, the problem completely disappeared. All except for the small scrape sound where it used to get stuck.

White Lithium grease should last longer than the others.

I did this to my 90 teg, which had slow, rattling, leaky windows.

I got the rattle and leaks to stop by replacing the door seal.

I suggest care when closing the door of any car w/o a frame around the window glass.

I used to work in a Glass Shop and this sound like it shoud be pretty easy to fix.

I have a couple of questions thou...

Does it make a thumping noise, when you try to lower or raise it?

and

Is your track inside pinching the glass?
