Hey first of all thanks for clicking and reading my post. Here is my situation, Its getting warmer and it is time to unleash the beast. Before i do so I wanted to change oil. I have a 2001 yamaha yzf600r (not R6) and i was wondering what oil do I use for it and what filter? I tried looking online and couldnt really find a specific part number of the filter and what type of oil (recommended vs oem maybe?) So any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

10w40. As long as it's not energy conserving, you're a-ok.

 

Yeah id go to the dealership and get the oil there. I would say 10-40 as well. Too cold for nething more like 20-50 or that stuff still.

 

what about the filter for my model? I'm trying to order one off of ebay, what should i look for? I tried typing in yamaha oil filter or yzf600r filter it didnt give me anything specific?
