Those with Ground Controls, what spring rates are you using and how is ride quality?
Seriously interested in getting a set of Ground Control coilovers but would like to know what kind of springs rates everyone is using and what kind of ride quality you get with these spring rates.
Thanks,
Mark
Thanks,
Mark
I dont know what my spring rate, is but i love the way it rides, dosent "bounce" at all. I have tokio blues also, prettynice. I would recommend this coilovers for their price. I love them.
So you've got Ground Controls? Is there any way to find out what spring rates you have? Is your ride somewhat stiff, but comfortable? I don't want to go overly stiff but also don't want it to soften too much. How low did you lower you car?

"The Street Kits are designed for easy installation, with comparatively soft spring rates, and to provide a good ride at low ride height."
Hopefully this helps.

Thanks. Very useful information. Let me know if you can get the spring rates from your setup. I am definitely going to get a set of Ground Controls for my accord.
Let me know when you get the spring rates.
Thanks,
Mark

I was looking at there webpage and it says The Street Kits are designed for easy installation, with comparatively soft spring rates, and to provide a good ride at low ride height....i cant find a damn number though, i will look around though.
When you purchased them, did you ask them for a specific spring rate or did they just send you the "Street Kit"? What size rims are you using?

I just asked for the Street kit. i have 17's....sorry that i cant find the spring rates. I will look on the box when i get home maybe it says it there.
I will probably do the same and order the "Street Kit".
By the way, where did you pick up your Ground Controls?
Thanks,
Mark

Do you have stock wheels or what.. Do you think you will get a camber kit? i would recommend it, if your going to go down 2.5 or lower. I ordered them from a local shop, i dont know where they got them from but i got a good deal on them.

I have 18 inch wheels and currently have an Ingalls 3 degree front camber kit. Right now i have Eibach sportline springs but want to have adjustability. I am looking to lower it a bit more.

How do u like the ingalls?? I have been looking at them and the progress. Where did u get them from and how much where they?
The Ingalls camber kit is very good. I like it very much. The polyurethane bushings can be a pain in the butt sometimes when they start squeaking, but nothing some marine grease cannot fix.
I traded some parts for the Ingalls kit from a friend of mine.

Thats cool. btw i just checked out your homepage about your car... that headlight conversion is nice i like that alot are those konig verdicts? but most of all im sweating the engine. have u ever ran your car at the track or dyoned. Did you notice a differnce between h22 and h22 with type s internals?
Glad you liked the JDM Integra Type R headlight conversion. My rims are ALT Xphile 18 inch chrome.
I am very pleased with the performance of the Prelude Type S internals. Feels crispier and pulls better. I will be taking my car for a quarter-mile test run soon. We just recently installed a Jun Ultralight flywheel and will also be installing Webcam dual valve springs/titanium retainers and bronze valve guides. I am also considering changing the valve seat angle to 45 degrees as it is on the Type S cylinder head.

awsome man good luck, i cant wait for my motor. Make sure you let us know what you run, i want to see how much of a difference the type s internals make. Do you just have the camshaft and the pistons?
Cool. When i get some quarter-mile times, i'll be sure to post them up.
I have Type s cams, valvesprings, retainers and pistons. I will be selling my Type S valvesprings/retainers, since i am going to go with Webcam. These Type S valvesprings are a bit stiffer than the normal H22a counterparts. If you or anyone might be interested, do not hesitate to let me know.

You know what dude? I think I'd recommend 300F/300R and a Suspension Techniques rear sway bar. I dunno, I'll have to research some other spring rates for you. I'm not sure what diameter spring goes over a Tokico. You have to worry about spring lengths too. You'll probably want an 8"~9" long spring. Picking a custom suspension is a tough process.
When ordering these Ground Controls, would custom spring rates and specific length of the coils cost extra when ordering the " Street Kit"?

Price is the same no matter what, for 4 springs, sleeves, and perches.
They can also advise you on spring rates. They probably have pre-chosen spring rates for the ride/performance you want. You can always call them and ask them for advise without having to buy.
I don't want to give you a recommendation; you buy it, and end up not liking the balance. There is just no way I can be sure how firm you want your car or what kind of rate bias you may want, if any.

Dave:
No problem. I would take all recommendations and consider all factors that way when i call Ground Control i can have some background information and enable me to find a suitable setup for my car.
I welcome all feedback/recommendations as i will take all into account and don't worry, no one is to blame if i am not pleased with the results. I will make a decision based on all the gathered data and with my conversation with Ground Control. So pour on some spring rates!

I'm using Bilstein Sport shocks, 8"x2.5"x350 ront springs and 8"x2.5"x400 rear springs.
I think your Tokicos will use the same spring diameter. In that case you'll get 8"x2.5" springs too. A 9" spring would be ideal, but Ebach does not make 2.5" diameter springs in 9" lengths. They do make a 10"x2.5", but that's too long.

Cool. Now, how is the ride? Does it manage well with the extra weight of the H22a powerplant? Good level of stiffness? What characteristics can you provide with respects to ride quality?
What size rims are you using? I have 18 inch wheels.

Yeah, I think I said elsewhere Morgan urbanlegend21 has 300F/350R. I went up 50 lbs on each to 350F/400 to compensate for slightly heavier engine.
I'm not sure if this is the ideal set up for my purposes, 'cause it's the only combination I've tried so far. I did have had Eibach Prokits and then H&R Sport springs in the past, but I never knew what their rates were. Those kits were really soft compared to what I'm running now, plus they had softer rates in the rear than the front. Having the higher rates in the rear does make the car ride quite a bit differently, for now your rear end is "springier" than the front.
