Which ECU do i have? Tips on chipping??
Hello. Im new here to Honda-Tech. Although have been reading for some time, only just recently registered.
My question is how can i tell what ecu i got? My old motor was a d16z6 equiped with a p28, almost 100% positive on that.
My b16 swap came with a p30 (?) not to sure. Was going to have the ecu that came with the swap chiped. Would clean up some of the problems the ecu has, such as random sensor errors. A code 9, which i looked up was a cyclinder pressure error, came up on the b16 but not the old d16 ecu. Friend of mine told me it didnt really matter which one got chiped, but is there a difference? Help me out

But that doesnt explain why my old d16z ecu works without engine light coming on and the new p30 ecu always comes on with a cyc. pressure error. Anyone got some thoughts?

No it doesn't, but every mpfi ef, eg, ek, and dc has one. It's inside the distributor, and it's not the "cylinder pressure sensor," it's the cylinder postion sensor.
If you have access to another obd1 vtec distributor, try swapping them and see if it throws the code.
As far as chipping goes, they can both be chipped. The p30 is generally going to be worth more money than the p28, unchipped. So if you chip the p28, you can sell the p30 for more $$$.

imma have to say that the p30 ecu is messed up maybe beacause if you get the code for 1, you should get it with another. get the p28 chipped and you be good to go
