Heel-toe a thing of the past?
Found this article about a volvo being converted to one pedal for brake and gas. Pretty cool, very nice for track..

who wants to work on a conversion for the R?

you wouldn't be able to heel toe because when you start to brake the car idles therefore how can you rev the the car if it is idling and if you are pushing the whole pedal down you can't tap the throttle becasue it is the same pedal that you just pushed down i don't know if that made sense but yeah whatever
Another problem with separate pedals is that it is easy to press the wrong one, causing a crash.

I like the idea, it sounds pretty cool.

The pedal wouldn't go all the way to the floor when you move the whole thing. You can push the pedal forward, hit the clutch and tilt it forward while pressing the clutch therefore braking and revving.

So...everyone agrees then that this is a bad idea for racing cars, right? The whole point in being able to brake and rev at the same time is to control the car's balance exactly the way you want during turns so as to not upset the car.
If this catches on, I sure as hell hope it's only the family haulers that get this sort of contraption.

the way I see it with practice the driver can get used to revving and braking with one pedal with out any problems. It is just a matter of practice, just like driving learning to drive manual... and when I mean bypass the idle when braking it would only be for the track, I agree it woudl be too dangerous to do in the street. But that is just what I think, I don't think that with practice I would not get confused on the braking and acceleration, but of course this would all matter on the rules and regulations of the officials that control the races, maybe they don't think it is a good idea.
