you wouldn't be able to heel toe because when you start to brake the car idles therefore how can you rev the the car if it is idling and if you are pushing the whole pedal down you can't tap the throttle becasue it is the same pedal that you just pushed down i don't know if that made sense but yeah whatever

Another problem with separate pedals is that it is easy to press the wrong one, causing a crash.
I have never done this. People who do this shouldnt be allowed to drive.

LOL. If there was a problem with seperate pedals I think auto makers would have designed something different

The pedal wouldn't go all the way to the floor when you move the whole thing. You can push the pedal forward, hit the clutch and tilt it forward while pressing the clutch therefore braking and revving.

I like the idea, it sounds pretty cool.

Actually the article states that it goes to IDLE when you hit the brake, so revving during braking would not be possible with this design. It's actually a REALLY bad idea to allow such action (braking and revving) as on an automatic car in the case of an accident or emergency braking situation the driver could easily move their ankle and press forward at the same time causing it to rev and try to accelerate and brake at the same time.

So...everyone agrees then that this is a bad idea for racing cars, right? The whole point in being able to brake and rev at the same time is to control the car's balance exactly the way you want during turns so as to not upset the car.

If this catches on, I sure as hell hope it's only the family haulers that get this sort of contraption.

the way I see it with practice the driver can get used to revving and braking with one pedal with out any problems. It is just a matter of practice, just like driving learning to drive manual... and when I mean bypass the idle when braking it would only be for the track, I agree it woudl be too dangerous to do in the street. But that is just what I think, I don't think that with practice I would not get confused on the braking and acceleration, but of course this would all matter on the rules and regulations of the officials that control the races, maybe they don't think it is a good idea.

The best solution to avoid heel-toe braking in a rcae car is with a semi-automatic sequential gearbox. Then you can left foot brake all day long.
