biggest 17" rim offset for crx
I am thinking of buying some 17" rims with an offset of 42mm. Would this be too wide? Anyone with info that had a crx with 17's with this offset? I have done a search and mostly all the topics were on 15's and 16's. Thx in advance.
Don't get 17's it will ride not the greatest. It will steer into every rut. Get a 16 or a 15. Do a little search on this. Covered eleventy billion times.

The offset and width are 2 totally different things
A 42mm offset will work fine on the CRX, the wheel is probably going to be 7" wide.
You'll find more info on 15" and 16" because it is the most commonly used and the "best" application.

i have some 15 in TE37's with a +36 offset and they are great...again...you don't really need a big offset unless you're planning to put some huge calipers behind the wheels...i agree with everyone else, 15 or 16's look cleaner...

I think he meant track width (I think that's the term I'm looking for), the distance between the outermost part of each wheel. Offset plays a vital role here.
As to the actual question, sorry, I have no experiance with 17"s, though I assume they would have similar offset issues to 16"s of the same rim width.

The width would be 7" no matter if the offset was-10mm or +45mm, neither way would the width change from inner lip to outer lip. The offset is measured from the hub mount to the center line of the wheel barrel.

What I meant was the wheel base for each set of front/rear wheels. I could have sworn that was called track width.

You dont want to run 17s on a CRX, you will regret it.
It looks too big, and is probaly heavier than a 15 or 16 inch, your acceleration and gas mileage will be reduced and it will put more strain on the whole suspension. You want a 15 or a lightish 16

I think your talking about the distance from the outside of the LF wheel to the distance to the outside of the RF wheel, actually the tire.
